On May 11, 2020 the ML4 Foundation hosted a virtual conference for MLIV families and their medical providers to learn about scientific and clinical research updates. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold our biennial in-person conference planned for 2020, yet we felt it was critical to share the extraordinary findings from these scientists that have taken place since we last met as a community in 2018.

Featured in these presentations are

  • Dr. Yulia Grishchuk, Ph.D., Center for Genomic Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, lead scientist MLIV
  • Dr. Albert Misko, MD., Ph.D., Pediatric Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, lead clinician MLIV
  • Dr. Brian Wishart, DO, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Massachusetts General Hospital, lead on rehabilitative med, physiatry and chronic care
Over 60 individuals joined this meeting from Israel, France, England, Brazil, Canada, the United States, South Africa and Australia, simultaneously representing nearly every time zone possible for this meeting. Eagerly and with incredible questions and discussion of the research, our scientists shared new research focussing on gene therapy in development for MLIV, and new findings on progression of disease and care for chronic aspects of MLIV.
